The Labour and Social Research Institute (LASRI) is a dedicated research organisation working to address Bihar’s critical social and economic challenges. Founded by alumni from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), LASRI blends academic excellence with grassroots action to create sustainable solutions through policy-driven research.

About Us
LASRI was envisioned during the COVID-19 pandemic when reverse migration exposed long-standing vulnerabilities in Bihar’s social fabric. With limited industrial presence, declining agricultural viability, and rising migration, the state faces deep-rooted challenges. Founded by passionate professionals from TISS, LASRI aims to bridge the gap between academic research and practical policy implementation to support inclusive development.
