LASRI offers a range of learning programmes designed for researchers, grassroots practitioners, NGO workers, government officials, students, and community leaders. All our programmes are grounded in field realities and guided by evidence-based methodologies drawn from decades of social research across Bihar and beyond.

Our Programme Categories

1. Labour Rights & Workers’ Education
These programmes equip workers, union leaders, and community mobilisers with a thorough understanding of their rights under Indian labour law. Topics covered include:

  • The Code on Wages, 2019 and its implications for informal workers
  • Social security entitlements — EPFO, ESIC, PM-SYM
  • Occupational health and safety in construction, manufacturing, and agriculture
  • Grievance redressal mechanisms and legal aid access
  • Collective bargaining and negotiation strategies

2. Gender, Rights & Social Justice
These workshops strengthen the capacity of women’s self-help groups, frontline workers, and civil society organisations to advance gender justice. Topics include:

  • Gender-based violence: prevention, response, and survivor support
  • Women’s land and property rights in Bihar
  • The POSH Act and workplace safety
  • Women’s leadership in local governance (Panchayati Raj)
  • Economic empowerment through skill development and SHG linkages

3. Research Methods & Social Impact Analysis
A structured programme for researchers, students, and NGO M&E teams seeking to strengthen their fieldwork and data skills. Topics include:

  • Qualitative and quantitative research design
  • Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and community-based methodologies
  • Data collection tools: surveys, FGDs, key informant interviews
  • Data analysis using SPSS, Excel, and NVivo basics
  • Writing research reports and policy briefs

4. Climate Resilience & Sustainable Livelihoods
Designed for farmers, rural communities, panchayat members, and field workers in flood-prone areas. Topics include:

  • Climate change impacts on the Kosi and Gandak belt
  • Climate-smart agriculture and indigenous seed preservation
  • Disaster preparedness, early warning systems, and community response
  • Government schemes for climate resilience — PM-KUSUM, MGNREGS, PMFBY
  • Linking communities to NABARD and financial institutions

5. Migration, Livelihoods & Return (NEW)
A short course exploring Bihar’s migration economy and the challenges faced by returnee migrant workers. Topics include:

  • Mapping Bihar’s internal and external migration corridors
  • Rights of migrant workers under the Inter-State Migrant Workmen Act
  • Return migration support: skill recognition, enterprise, and reintegration
  • Documenting and advocating for migrant worker issues

6. Capacity Building for Field Organisations
A customised, flexible programme for NGOs, CBOs, and government departments seeking to strengthen their team’s ground capabilities. Topics are tailored to the organisation’s needs and may include project management, community mobilisation, financial literacy, and documentation skills.

Fees & Scholarships

Programme fees vary depending on duration, location, and delivery mode. LASRI is committed to keeping learning accessible:

  • Fee waiver or scholarship support available for participants from marginalised communities
  • Group discounts available for organisations registering 5 or more participants
  • Some community-level workshops are offered at no cost, subject to funding availability

Certification

Participants who complete at least 80% of a programme and submit the required assignments or assessments will receive a Certificate of Participation or Certificate of Completion from LASRI. Certificates are issued digitally and, upon request, in hard copy.
